If your dentist informed you the day you came in to have a filling that she could fill your tooth painlessly without needles and without drilling, wouldn’t you feel a sense of relief?   Many patients have already because it is true.  Several years ago Dr. Mashhood attended a dental course which changed the way she delivers dentistry.  This course introduced her to AIR MICROABRASION in which a dentist can painlessly remove a cavity without a shot of local anesthetic, painlessly air abraid the cavity out of the tooth, and could fill the cavity with a tooth colored filling.  Can dentistry get any better than that?

Air microabrasion is an advancement in comfortable dentistry. With the air microabraider, the dentist sprays micro-fine particles against the tooth in a well-directed particle beam.  The fine particles gently blow away the organic cavity material without creating painful heat and friction like a dental drill.  Without the heat and friction, the air microabraider gently and painlessly removes the decay.

There is more good news.  Air microabrasion saves tooth structure compared to drilling.

Air microabrasion also does not create cracks in teeth from heat like the drill does.

The dental drill was necessary for the shaping of the cavity hole for silver fillings which caused cracks in the tooth which, over time, grew.  Many times these teeth, years later, need crowns or possibly root canals from the cracks in the tooth structure.  Air-abrasion is a gentle technology which does not cause teeth to need crowns or root canals in the future.
