Fix discolored, dark or stained teeth with tooth whitening

Tooth bleaching involves the placement of a bleaching solution on the teeth to eliminate stains and discoloration. The solution is held in place by a custom-made, see-through tray that fits over the teeth - much like a mouthpiece worn by a professional boxer - except they are clear in appearance and very light weight. You will be able to talk normally while wearing the trays.

Bleaching is a safe, effective and relatively easy means of producing a whiter smile.

Dr. Mashhood recommends at-home-bleaching, which provides for home use (not to be confused with over-the-counter bleaching products available in local Beverly Hills area drug stores). It is safe because it cleans and lightens the tooth, but does not damage the protective outer enamel. Commercial over-the-counter products have mild acids which can adversely affect the enamel. They may also contain titanium dioxide which is commonly known as "white-out" which artificially whitens the teeth. In seven to ten days the at-home-bleaching system will lighten your teeth several color shades. Your teeth will look lighter and cleaner. You will feel better about the appearance of your teeth.

Sensitive teeth, or those that are chipped, eroded or weakened by cavities, should be repaired or protected before they are bleached.
